J&K local body polls: Security forces are ready, says Rajnath

first_imgHome Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday that incidents of violence in Jammu and Kashmir had gone down, and said security forces were fully prepared for the urban local body polls in the State from Monday.Talking to presspersons on the sidelines of an event of the Central Reserve Police Force here, the Minister said the security forces had given a “befitting reply” to militants in the Kashmir Valley.Incidents of violence have come down in the recent past, he said.Asked about the overall security situation in the State, the Minister said the security forces were vigilant.Blames PakistanMr. Singh said Pakistan was not mending its ways, indicating that the neighbouring country had been fuelling infiltration and militancy activities in Kashmir. He said Jammu and Kashmir, where the CRPF was deployed as the lead counter-militancy force, had been, and would be, an “inseparable” part of India. Some youth in the State had been misled into militancy, but this force had ensured security commendably, he said.last_img
