first_imgBrentford look set to appoint Walsall’s Dean Smith as their new head coach.Smith, 44, has been targeted after a move for Swansea assistant manager Pep Clotet stalled.The Bees are seeking a replacement for Marinus Dijkhuizen, who was sacked on 28 September after just eight games at the helm.Lee Carsley, who has led the team since Dijkhuizen’s dismissal, will still take charge for Monday night’s game at Bolton.But the club hope Smith can be appointed in time for the home game against MK Dons on Saturday.Smith took over as Walsall boss in January 2011 and after several mid-table finishes has guided them to fourth in the League One table.The Saddlers also reached last season’s Football League Trophy final at Wembley.Follow West London Sport on TwitterFind us on Facebooklast_img
